January 18, 2013 Biography
Hello everyone, my name is Jordan Wood. I am 21 years
old, and am a junior. I graduated form TCC last May with my Associates in
Science with a major in Business Administration. I began taking classes at ODU
over the summer. I was originally majoring in IT Networking but I did not enjoy
the college of business, so I changed my major to Computer Science. The one
thing I enjoy doing most outside of school is racing. My family has been
involved with motorsports since before I was born. I also enjoy playing golf,
bowling, and going snowboarding. I currently work for my dad at his automotive
shop while attending school. I also have my own sticker business on the side
making signs, and lettering vehicles. Once I graduate I plan on getting a job
with my girlfriend's dad on the base working with computers. Good luck to all
of you this semester!

January 31, 2013 Persona
Working on the persona project was interesting. Ive never used Google Documents until last week. My group and I divided up the differnet areas of the project so that we all had something to work on. Although we got it done, I would of much rather worked on it in person during class, rather than having to contact everyone via email, or twitter. All in all, or group worked good together, and we got the project done. I was out of town until Sunday, but did my best to keep in touch with everyone and give a hand. Dawn was the ringleader of the group, and really made sure everything was right. Overall, it was nice to see the final project posted, and get to see everyone's work come together.
February 5, 2013 Blog Change
When I first created my blog, I used stock template but inserted my own photo. After looking at my blog multiple times, I realized that editing the photo made my blog look unprofessional. I went back with the standard photo because it was more clean and professioanl looking. I also made the headings of my blogs bigger so it didnt blend in with the blog itself. The last thing I did was make the font darker so that it didn't blend in as much and was easier to read. I feel like now my blog is clean and more professional looking. It is simple to navigate through, and easy to find what you are looking for. It is not to complicated , and doesn't have too much going on to keep users from stearing away from my blog.
February 24, 2013 Wikipedia on Drag Racing
I chose to read an article about drag racing because it is something I can relate to. After analyzing the article, I was amazed to find how accurate it was. I have been around drag racing since the day I was born. There is probably nothing out there about drag racing that I havn't seen or heard before. Especailly the basics such as the rules, and how an event is run. This article was good for someone who does not know much about drag racing, and is interesed in learning about it. It is very specific, and gives clear detail on the rules of drag racing, how an event is run, and and things that take place while a car is making a pass down the track. I also liked how the article used proper language, rather than using drag racer slang so that is would not be hard to comprehend by a reader who is not familiar with the sport.

February 28, 2013 Photo Manipulation Project
"Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I've ever known"
-–Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters
Meaning
This quote means that
everyone is a product of who they become close to, and learn to live life by the
living of those close to them.
I am who I am today because of the people I have been close to. The image I
designed is supposed to be the silhouette of me walking down a tunnel. On the
walls of the tunnel are the people that are/were closest to me in my life. These
people will always be in my life, and will contribute to helping me the best
person I can be. The light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t mean that I am at
the end, but that there may be more people that become close to me in the
future, such as my own children, grandchildren, and so on.
Design Process
I first began with finding
the image of the person walking down the tunnel. I then found images of all the
people that I posted on the walls. Once I found all the images I needed, I had
to crop their faces out so that I use just their heads. After I got all their
faces set were I wanted them, I stretched them to look like they were on the
walls of the tunnels instead of looking flat. I then used the eraser tool set to
55% Opacity so that I could make the faces look transparent. The last thing I
did was type in the quote and change the color and place it where I wanted it.
Photo Manipulation as Digital Writing
I feel like photo
manipulation is a form of digital writing. A picture can say 1000 words just
like a book. With text, the reading can convey a certain message, but can be
interpreted in many ways. The same goes for a photo, five people can look at it,
and all have different opinions on what the meaning of the photo is.
March 10, 2013 Wiki Understanding
A wiki is a collaboration of information on a topic allowing multiple people
to come together in one document and make changes.
This makes it easier and faster to edit and add information to the document. It
is non biased, and has a neutral point of view. There should not be any personal
experiences incorporated in a wiki. Instead of one person creating a document
and having to email out to the other group members and wait for a response, the
changes can all be made at one time and not have to go back on fourth.
This group project should be interesting. Learning the wiki website has
been quit the task. I think that the hardest part to bare will be adding
information to the document, and a group member deleting, or altering it. From
the experience of working with my group members in our practice wiki, I would
expect that there is going to be a lot of typing, changing, and rearranging
going on during the process of creating the wiki. It was a lot to keep up with
at first, because as I was reading to see what I thought should be added, things
were being deleted and moved as fast as they were added. All together, I feel like it will be a fun learning
experience.

Wiki Editing Process March 19, 2013
My group was confused as to when the stub was due for the wiki. There was an email sent out notifying us, and then a group member sent out another email about wokring on the wiki. I havn't heard from anyone, therefor as of right now all we have is a wiki for our group that I posted that is blank. So as of right now there has been no wiki or editing to blog about. Hopefully we will be able to get things together and create a wiki. I went ahead and created a wiki post for our group, and posted to it. Now all it needs is editing from other group memebers. After that, I will be able to post more on editing of our wiki.
Wiki Reflection March 28, 2013
I thought the wiki project went well after we got started. I liked having the
ability to be able to edit someone else’s wiki, and having them edit ours. From
the start I felt like I would get frustrated having someone modify/delete
something I had added. When we got to the editing part, I began to realize that
there was so much editing going on, that it was hard to keep up with how much of
the information I had added had been edited or removed. So it was not as
difficult to cope with as I thought it was going to be. Especially if the
information changed made sense, and made the wiki better. It was hard at first
to go onto someone else’s wiki and make changes. To make myself more
comfortable, I only added information to other’s work rather than deleting what
anyone else had put. The only thing that troubled me was the communication with
my group members. That was also a learning experience after the class
collaborated in connect on better ways to communicate back in fourth.
Overall, it was a good learning experience. I enjoyed seeing how much
information was added from the start of the wiki process until the end. It was
nice knowing that I had contributed to adding information that could help and
benefit others.

HTML Practice Project April 2, 2013
The HTML project I created was supposed to be a start up to a
website about myself. I installed the Notpad ++ app in order to type all
my code. It was easy to use, and free to install. I basically used the template
from the example from class just to get my feet wet with HTML. I am an IT
major, and am used to writing code for Programs, and GUI’s. HTML definitely
seems a lot easier, with a lot less things to have to remember. Although I know
that I am far from knowing everything there is to know about HTML. I
had never done anything with HTML before, so it was nice to get the process a
website goes through when being put together. Attatched is the link to my HTML practice project so it can be viewed better.

HTML Edits April 4, 2013
I was finally able to get the background
color to change, and an image to load thanks to Blaine. I also changed the font
colors. It was nice getting able
to see the page pop up and the changes finally showing
up.

HTML Web Page Prewrite April 8, 2013
My website is going to be based around my family’s racing team. I am
choosing this topic because I can relate to it very well, and think that it
would be cool for our race team to have a web page. This page will walk visitors
through our site and give them explanations on the different cars we have, and
who drives what car. It will also give a history of my family’s racing career.
My audience will be those who are
interested in racing, and would like to read about and entire family that races.
I hope to be able to make a clean, but elaborate web page to catch the
audience’s attention. Hopefully they will want to continue reading through my
web page, and learn more about the race team.
Web Site Reflection April 26, 2013
I was happy when I found out we would be designing a web page. I have
always wanted to know what goes into designing one. I had always seen HTML, but
never knew what it meant. I have enjoyed the design process from the start. Even
though I have not even began to get into everything there is to know about HTML.
I have taken three IT classes, and am familiar with coding and programming so I
caught on quick. Although the coding is a lot different than C++, it was close
to the same concept. I did a lot of trial and error to see what changes did
what. I did a lot of research on
Google to find out different things. One of the features I found that I really
liked was the color code generator. With the interest in wanting to build a
webpage, I feel like I will use this knowledge to design one for my dad. He has
always wanted one, and now that I have showed him my project, he will not leave
me alone about making one. I will definitely broaden my knowledge about making a
website. It will be nice to not be in a time crunch to get it done, and be able
to try new things and learn more about designing. I can only imagine the
different amount of possibilities and options there are when designing a page.
Now when I visit web pages, I try to look into what process the designer went
through when creating the page. It definitely get my mind going, and I am sure
in the future when I am designing I will attempt to try things I see. That way,
I will no longer have to wonder how it is done. I Look forward to starting on
another webpage in the near future.
